How To Wear Black Dresses To Flatter Your Body

The black dress is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. It can be worn for any occasion and during any season. This timeless piece of clothing never goes out of style, which is one of the reasons it’s so popular.

The problem some women have is finding the right black dress that complements their figure best. Check out these tips that will show you what type of black dress you should wear to show off your body’s best assets.

Legs

If you have long, sexy legs that you want to show off go with a black dress that has a short hemline. To get more attention to your legs you could wear a black dress that has embellishments or ruffles at the bottom.knee length black dress

Knee high length dresses that have a slit at the side or front can also work too. When you’re trying to flatter your legs stay away from dresses that are mid calf length.

Mid calf length dresses will highlight the widest part of your leg, which is not what you want. Also, avoid dresses that have a top that have long sleeves or a high neckline because these styles don’t look good if you have bare legs showing.

Bust

If you are trying to highlight your bust go with a dress that has a flattering neckline such as a square, V neck, or scoop. Wearing embellishments around the neckline is also a good idea as this will attract more eyes to your upper portion. v neckline top

However, don’t go too overboard if you have a bust that’s bigger than a D cup. Boatnecks and crewnecks should be avoided because they’ll conceal your big bust. Also, stay away from plunging necklines that will veer into areas that aren’t very appropriate.

Arms

If you want a dress to accentuate your arms you can’t go wrong with racerback, strapless, or halter cuts. Dresses with spaghetti straps, cap sleeves, or sleeveless styles are also great ways to flatter your arms.

When you are trying to accentuate your arms don’t wear dresses that have long, blousy sleeves. Avoid strapless dresses and go for a halter cut if your shoulders are broad, because it will help break up the width.

Back

If you are trying to bring some attention to your back then go with dresses that have a slit or a bow at the back. Halter and racerback styles are also great ways to highlight your back. Don’t wear dresses that go too far down the middle of your back, because you might end revealing more than you intended.

Waist

Dresses that accentuate your waist will have bows, belts, or seams around the waist section. If you have wide hips that you want to conceal you could wear silhouettes that will show off your waist and keep your hips hidden at the same time. Stay away from dresses that have drop waist or empire cuts, as these won’t do your midsection justice.
